What is the Lamborghini LP570-4 Spyder Performante and how is it different to the LP560-4 Spyder or it's coupe brother - the Superleggera? Well, it's 65kg lighter for a start, mainly thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre on both the interior and exterior of the car - namely the front and rear diffuser, rear spoiler, door mirrors, engine bay cover, door panels, and the bucket seats. The use of carbon fibre helps to shed around 40-45% of the Performantes' overall weight saving of 65kg. A set of lightweight 19inch alloys also saves another 20% (13kg), and the Alcantara trim also helps to keep the weight savings tumbling.
How about performance? Well, a bit of toying with the ECU has helped to add an extra 10bhp to power output (hence the Lp560-4 is now the LP570-4), bringing the total bhp up to 562bhp at 8000rpm.
Performance wise, don't expect this to feel too different to the LP560-4 Spyder but the aggressive modifications to the design, coupled with a more racing-car looking interior, bring you one step closer to man and machine being in unison....oh, and the exhaust still gives your eardrums an absolute battering with the ear-splitting V10 echoing around the cabin or making passers-by jump into the nearest hedge.
Whilst the Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C are fighting with each other for first place, the LP570-4 is just inches behind snapping at their heels and offering more of an Old Skool Italian supercar experience....
